The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers became just the fourth 11th seed in the history of the men’s NCAA Basketball tournament to make the coveted “Final Four” by beating Kansas State on Saturday.
The team’s secret weapon is its 98-year-old prayer leader – Sister Jean. Behind the sister of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s prayers, the team reached the impossible – the Final Four!
Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt may be in a wheelchair, but she was at yesterday’s game between underdog Loyola-Chicago and Kansas State. She led the team in prayer before the game and watched as her team beat Kansas State in a stunner –
Loyola-Chicago started their run last week with a win over 6th seed Miami of Florida.
The team won its first three games by a total of four points. After each win the team gives Sister Jean a hug –
Sister Jean is Loyola-Chicago’s men’s basketball team chaplain. She grew up in San Francisco and had a pet monkey as a child per a video from the university from 2015. She also had some nice things to say about students of this generation –
