“KPIX 5 reporter Andria Borba said at least two Homeland Security units were responding. Police radio transmissions describe casualties being taken to local hospitals,” CBS reports. “San Francisco General Hospital spokesman Brent Andrew said the hospital received patients from the incident but could not confirm a number.”
ABC 7 has reported that, “another law enforcement source confirms to ABC7 News reporter Dan Noyes that the shooter is a white, adult female wearing a dark top and head scarf.”
YouTube employees took to Twitter to report hearing shots and seeing people running from the scene, as police surrounded the building.
Active shooter at YouTube HQ. Heard shots and saw people running while at my desk. Now barricaded inside a room with coworkers.

San Bruno Police tweeted: “Please stay away from Cherry Ave & Bay Hill Drive.”
YouTube employee Todd Sherman tweeted that he saw “blood drips on the floor and stairs.”
I looked down and saw blood drips on the floor and stairs. Peaked around for threats and then we headed downstairs and out the front.

He also tweeted that, “Someone else said that the person shot out the back doors and then shot themselves.”
Journalist Ethar El-Katatney posted screenshots from a WhatsApp group chat she is in where someone claimed to have been inside the building.
“I was in a courtyard at work eating and some guy with a gun and full body armor started firing,” the person in the chat wrote, which conflicts with the ABC 7 report. “We all ran. We have no idea what to do.”
The person added that they “looked right at him. He had green sunglasses thing for shooting on. Full body armor. Was calm walking and firing.”
She has since deleted her tweet.
There are two deleted YouTube shooter eyewitness accounts. Given the circumstances, it feels pertinent to share these.
First one. I added the necessary censoring of people's names that caused them to delete these screens in the first place. pic.twitter.com/jAXFWxYmJo

(not official) but heard this on the San Bruno PD scanner a few minutes ago: we have 37 individuals that will need triaging…there’s also talk of setting up a “casualty center" at the end of a street. Praying for everyone @YouTube involved in another heartless incident. 😢

Approximately 1,700 people work on the campus.
ABC7 News has more details on the injured:
Brent Andrew, a spokesperson at San Francisco General Hospital, says they’re treating three people – a 36-year-old man in critical condition and two women, ages 36 and 27. One is in serious and fair condition.
He would not confirm whether the three had been shot, but said the surgeon treating them is “very experienced” with traumatic injuries, like gunshot wounds.
Others have been taken to the hospital at Stanford, Andrew confirmed.
