Author and PJ Media columnist John Hawkins launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to support Brett Kavanaugh and his family as they endure the ruthless smear campaign from the left — and it has now raised over $345,000 in five days.
Over 7,000 people have donated to the fundraising campaign to help pay for security, legal fees, or anything else the family may need.
“Like many decent people from both parties, I have been disgusted by the unsubstantiated 36 year old smears aimed at Brett Kavanaugh. We live in a country where innocent until proven guilty is supposed to mean something; yet Brett Kavanaugh’s reputation is being dragged through the mud while his family is facing non-stop death threats,” the fundraising campaign reads.
The fundraising page goes on to say that he is hoping to raise money for Kavanaugh’s family to use for security or however they see fit.
“Andrew Breitbart said that the Clarence Thomas hearings are what drove him to become a conservative. I’m already a conservative, but these similarly sleazy, baseless allegations against Kavanaugh are so despicable that they convinced me that I had to do something to support him and his family,” Hawkins told the Gateway Pundit.
If the Kavanaugh family does not accept the donations, the money will go to a charity of their choice.
Judge Kavanaugh, if and when he is confirmed, would be the “poorest” Supreme Court judge. According to Market Watch, at least six — if not all eight — SCOTUS judges are worth at least one million dollars. They report that as of December 31, the judge had between $15,001 and $50,000 in an interest-bearing Bank of America account and less than $15,000 in Vanguard funds within a 401(k) plan offered by the Employee Retirement System of Texas.
Market Watch also notes that he and his wifebought a house in 2006 for $1.2 million, have refinanced it twice, and now have a mortgage of $865,000.
