Anti-Semites Spray-Paint Swastikas, “Dirty Jew” onto Home of French Jewish Mayor

- November 19, 2018

Friday, November 9, 2018 was the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, in which Nazis committed pogroms against Jews in Germany, arresting or murdering Jews and destroying their homes and stores. It was also the same day anti-Semites spray-painted swastikas and other anti-Semitic graffiti onto the home of a Jewish mayor in France.

France3 reported that Etienne Wolf, the mayor of Brumath, was retrieving his newspaper in the morning when he found the graffiti.

Yair Rosenberg, a senior writer at Tablet magazine, has an ongoing Twitter thread regarding the seemingly increasing number of anti-Semitic attacks and incidents occurring:

Each day, we get further and further away from the horrors of the Holocaust, and we lose its heroes and survivors, as well as their first-hand stories. Incidents like this anti-Semitic graffiti serve as a heartbreaking reminder that it is important to speak up against bigotry and to ensure that such attitudes cannot and do not flourish.
