Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) rejected using the nuclear option to pass the revamped House bill that would fund the border wall.
McConnell’s spokesman said the Senate doesn’t have the votes to change its rules to go nuclear.
“The Leader has said for years that the votes are not there in the Conference to use the nuclear option. Just this morning, several Senators put out statements confirming their opposition, and confirming that there is not a majority in the conference to go down that road,” David Popp, McConnell’s Comms Director said.

A government shutdown appears inevitable at this point.
Even if they do get Hse bill w/wall money on the floor, McConnell has to file cloture to end debate on the bill.
If you do it by the book and file cloture today…you can’t even take the cloture vote (which would fail, because it needs 60 yeas), until SUNDAY.— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) December 21, 2018
There are no side negotiations to avert a shutdown.
There are no side negotiations going on now to avert a government shutdown. So unless something drastically changes, we are cruising toward a government shutdown.

Earlier Friday the President called for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to go nuclear and get the bill passed with 51 votes.
RINO of all RINOs Jeff Flake tweeted to President Trump on Friday saying he WILL NOT vote for a nuclear option to pass funding for the border wall.
President Trump is already blaming the Democrats for the impending government shutdown after a fierce battle over border wall funding.
