There’s Miss Universe. And there’s the Mr. Universe (bodybuilding) contest. So this is…Misster Universe?
For the upcoming December 16th Miss Universe pageant, social justice warriors are being treated to a beautiful delight: a man.
Wait — I thought men are evil.
Anyway, Angela Ponce is officially the first guy to enter the contest, having won the lower pageant to represent Spain.
Angela’s had some “cropping” done down there, and he’s taken estrogen…and he’s ready to rumble!
And if you’re a bettin’ man — or woman — or other — Angela’s the odds-on favorite.
As reported by The Blast:
“As the competition nears, online bookies are taking action, and Ponce has grown to become the clear favorite with current odds of +600. The folks at MyBookie.ag compiled their list of where all the countries currently stand. To put it in perspective, the Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers has odds of +2,000 if she wins the whole competition.”
Angela told Time magazine his win would be, not just a big “Up your nose” to Donald Trump, but huge for humanity:
“[I]t would be a win for human rights.”
Here’s a sentence…
Hmmm…
He also said this:
“Trans women have been persecuted and erased for so long. If they give me the crown, it would show trans women are just as much women as cis women.”
In 2012, a male pageant Canadian hopeful sued Miss Universe for the right to compete with the gals. So MU opened the doors to dudes.
Angela gave it a shot in 2015 but got bested by a woman. This year, though, it was Triumph City!
He made clear his mission on Instagram:
“My goal is to be a spokesperson for a message of inclusion, respect and diversity not only for the LGBTQ+ community but also for the entire world.”
These days, transgender people are everywhere: at the track (here), at the movies (here), in schools (here), and in the military (here).
Transgender activism in competition doesn’t just go in the guy-to-girl direction — meet Ajay Holbrook; she intends to kick butt and take names in the realm of male bodybuilding:
