House Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) emerged from the meeting with President Trump at the White House Wednesday vowing to pass bills that will re-open the government and stiff the President on border wall funding.
“Tomorrow we will bring to the floor legislation that will open up government. It will be based on actions taken by the Republican Senate,” Pelosi said.
Democrats are taking back control of the House Thursday and their first order of business will be to present six appropriations bills and one short-term bill to re-open the government.
Zero money will be allocated to fund President Trump’s border wall.
As previously reported, Nancy Pelosi plans on putting pressure on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell by introducing bills that exclude border wall funding — a similar bill just passed the Senate a couple weeks ago which Pelosi noted on Wednesday at the White House.
President Trump refused to sign the bill that bounced back and forth from the House to the Senate then back to the House, resulting in a partial government shutdown.
McConnell said many times he will not bring a bill to the President’s desk that excludes border wall funding.

Soon-to-be House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said that there will be another meeting at the White House Friday, hoping Dems will make a counteroffer.
