Following the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, many were asking one very important question — was his infamous ‘Embassy Cat’ safe?
On Saturday, WikiLeaks confirmed that he was, tweeting a video of the feline watching the coverage of Assange’s arrest.

“We can confirm that Assange’s cat is safe. Assange asked his lawyers to rescue him from embassy threats in mid-October. They will be reunited in freedom,” the official WikiLeaks account tweeted.
The cat had actually been removed from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in October, following threats from the Ecuadorian government that they would kidnap the cat and take it to an animal shelter if Assange did not behave.
The Ecuadorian government who had protected 2019 Nobel Peace Prize nominee and award-winning publisher since 2012 caved to pressure from the U.S. government on Thursday and allowed him to be arrested by the UK government inside the embassy.
On March 26, the official WikiLeaks Twitter account posted about it and stated that Moreno is attempting to hand over Assange in exchange for US debt relief, a fact which was reported by The New York Times.
