The left-wing war on Chick-fil-A started 7 years ago, and in spite of the left’s best efforts, the restaurant chain is still going strong – and expanding.

To show their support for the “hate chicken” restaurant, the Texas state legislature has been working to pass a “save Chick-fil-A” bill that the governor is expected to sign. The bill was a direct response to the city of San Antonio’s vote in March to ban Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant at the airport, citing their so-called “intolerance” for the LGBTQ community.

The legislature’s debate on this bill had one Houston Chronicle columnist wondering why conservatives were “white-knighting” the restaurant in the first place and making Chick-fil-A “an issue *everywhere*”:

She just kept going on and on, as Sarah at Twitchy documented here, insinuating conservatives started the Chick-fil-A wars. She was corrected numerous times, but that didn’t deter her one bit.

Here’s a rough timeline for recent events involving Chick-fil-A being targeted by various cities and universities, for anyone interested in the actual facts:

March 20: The liberal website Think Progress publishes a report detailing Chick-fil-A’s 2017 charitable donations.

Just two days after that report was released, the San Antonio city council voted to effectively ban the restaurant from their airport for seven years.

Two weeks later, a Democrat state lawmaker in New York apparently used his influence to get the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority to nix plans to include the restaurant in an upcoming Buffalo Niagara International Airport project.

Two weeks after that, the city of San Jose, CA voted to “hang rainbow flags in support of LGBTQ people and pink, blue and white flags for transgender rights at or near a Chick-fil-A due to open in May at San Jose International Airport” per The Hill. This was done after they realized they had “overlooked” approving the restaurant’s inclusion in the airport back in March 2018.

The real reason they did it was to show solidarity with the other two cities who took action against the chain in the aftermath of Think Progress‘s report.

Earlier this month, the faculty of Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo voted to kick an existing Chick-fil-A restaurant off their campus. But university administrators clapped back, indicating they would not go along with the vote. The restaurant has been on the campus for 25 years.

Trinity University students in Texas tried something similar, but their efforts were struck down by administrators, too.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. The fact of the matter is that liberals started this war back in 2012, and have been pushing and shoving for boycotts and bans ever since – knowing that Chick-fil-A just wanted to sell chicken rather than fight back.

Average Joe and Jane conservatives, along with those in government, decided to fight back on their behalf – and for good reasons. Because not only was Chick-fil-A being unfairly targeted, but their First Amendment rights were at stake, too. And still are.

Anyone suggesting otherwise really should know better.
